I have a snapped heater cable and I'm looking for a replacement but i cant find any with the same end on, please see pic

Also I have no idea how they are connected to the dash levers as I think I may have parts missing

    I have
    1x cable from totem pole
    2x cable from heat exchangers
And how do the fresh air flaps work

I can't find a diagram to so the conections, any help would be greatly appreciated

L/h side cabe for a LHD bus length is 4070mm

    Thanks

  4. Heat exchangers on the furthest right lever, one should have a 'L' on the end one a loop/wire ring. L through the lever and ring over the end of it on the other side then a clip to hold it on. Next lever is the short cable to the flaps on the totem. Two L shaped ends through levers with spring clips to hold. The lever at the totem end also connects to another cable usually siezesrunning to the diverted under the bus to send heat to the back. Last lever is directly connected by rods to fresh air flaps

This is under the dash of a 79 with a type 4. Deefer66 has told you most of what you need to know. Mine differs in having 4 cables. VW had obviously decided that the massive heat output needed to be better distributed. That's what the left hand lever does. The middle one is to control the degree of tepidity.

I took this picture when I was having trouble refitting the cables into the support clip. You need to line the cables up in semi circular recesses and squeeze the spring clip over them. The support bracket had got slightly bent so was proving difficult until I bent it forward into shape.

, thanks that is great , it looks like I'm missing the connecting rods and retaining springs, and the cable is just standard

    Thanks for the pics
