Heater cable for dash/footwell heat changeover

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Zebedee, Jan 22, 2013.

  1. Anyone know where i can get the short heater cable that runs from the dash lever to the footwell vents?
The one that allows you to direct the hot(ish) air to either the dash vents or the ones in the heater pipe under the dash so it goes to the footwell?

Mines missing the cable and theres also a broken spring next to the lever in the upright pipe under the dash. What does that fit to (or do)?

Modile website doesn't make it clear . Certain years need to be adapted slightly. They now do them for LHD and RHD buses.

I needed to wrap some thick tape around mine to fit my RH 76 at the bottom by the totem pole but it was a superb fit on a customers LH 74.

Not if you want it to work properly, they are rigid cables , but the ends are the most important part, buy the heritage one, 5 mins to fit and fixed good as new :)

  9. Good ride? ;)

  10. Ahhhh typo - bike SHOPPE ...
On second thoughts though as DD says they`ve got to be rigid so maybe not ...

  11. Hence the use of old heat exchanger cables. The ends are easy to shape with pliers

I tried this recently. The L shaped hook is the important bit. It is factory crimped on and impossible to remove and reuse successfully.
I tried it with no hook just wrapped and tightened the cable to the totem lever. It was poor and never operated properly. I will buy a new cable. Even at that price as it irritates me not having a working totem flap.

    Ta for the link.

  13. Shes busy just now!

  14. So its heritage for the flap control cable . anyone got a part number as ive ordered one and its tooooooo long!!

How did you attach it to the totem?

  18. The lever on the totem has a loop so it's now held on with a chocolate block connector.

  19. There should be a metal clip that clamps the cable outer. I lost mine, so it's now attached with a cable tie (VW did the same when the clip went NLA).

  20. The outer cable on mine is held with a clip thing.
    Looks a bit like this:
