  1. For the control levers.........Unfortunately I've lost them, over the resto's time.....
Cant for the life of me remember what they look like.......anyone got a pic or better still a link for them?
    Its a 1973 3 lever job........

Hi mate, I`m in a similiar predicament, but from memory they are like a spring just under half an inch round and they slip onto the cable end after you`ve manouvered them through the lever. The springy bit has straight ends that tension it onto the cable end, all this might be baloney if your bus is different to my 1970 bus. Think they were available through JK and GFS and I don`t think the quality aspect will come into it here as they don`t actually do that much:)

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,, First post,, new site,, it`s very exciting  ;)

  3. Cheers for the reply mate.......I was under the same impression, but I was told by an authority, that they were a singe clip that did all three, but thinking about it I cant see how that would work??

  4. Diagram from parts book (with assorted pencil notes by me).
The spring #9 has the part number 211 259 283.
The circlip #12A has the part number N 0124342.
    The usual suspects sell these.
Ozzie, next time you're over my way call in and I'll give you a spring gratis.

I reckon you is right, I think number 10 just holds the cables tidy. From memory, that picture of the spring is a bit exagerated I had it as a lot flatter than that and just slips on like a ,,,,,, pair of slippers ;)

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,, If you know what I mean :p

  7. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

No. 10 stops the outers moving with the inners.

  8. Can see 4 part numbers by 10, any one in particular?

  9. What I've written by number 10 is actually only two part numbers.
    Firstly, 311 259 325 is the part number for vehicles up to chassis number 215 2052 980, i.e. yours being a '73.
The second part number 211 259 325 is for vehicles from that chassis number onwards.

  10. If you have some great words of wisdom about how to get the -ucking heater cables pulled out and back in again, I'd welcome it. I've managed to "kind -of" make the old ones work. But I've tried to bull them out but can't get either one to budge. Pulled to the point of (it seems) them coming apart inside the tubes, so I stopped to reconsider.

  11. Doh........silly me!!......thought the 215/211 numbers looked strangely familiar..........
One again I am indebted to you.......
    Cheers Jon.......

  12. At a pinch you can use a cable tie. They just need to clamp the cable outers. I believe VW replaced bit 3 with a cable tie later on.

  13. I spent around 3 hours trying to that poxy clip on. Ended up using some big arse cable ties and it works a treat
