Headlight and wiper wiring issue

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Eastcombe, Apr 30, 2017.

  1. Hoping someone can tell me Im being a numpty and provide a simple solution.

Since having my bus back from the body shop (replacement front clip) the headlights haven't worked on full beam or dip. The side lights work and also the flash works. The windscreen wipers dont work when you push the right stalk. However they do work when the left stalk is pulled up to flash.

Ive check for any loose wires and there dont seem to be any.

    Any help, ideas greatly appreciated!

  2. You'll have to get a copy of the wiring diagram and check that everything's been put back where it should be. Never let a body shop put your wiring back in ;).

  3. If you can struggle into position under the steering column, you'll see three cables and plugs which push in. Make sure they are firmly pushed home.

You have to hope they've not disconnected any of the individual wires from the plugs.

Check the earth cluster behind the dash, probably been painted, clean and squeeze all the earths first!

  5. I had similar issues. Turned out the ignition switch had been wired up wrong. Get a wiring diagram and check it out.

  6. All sorted. After tracing every cable back and forth from the fuse box, checking over and again the colour codes via a print out of the circuit diagram I spotted that one of the connections in the fuse box had come away. It was well hidden!

On the plus side I got my interior light working properly.

    Thanks for the advice all.
