  1. I used my bus last weekend ok went down to Portsmouth and back again no problems. I've then tried to start my bus but it has the following symptoms:

On turning the ignition key I get the ignition light come on and a click from the solenoid but the engine won't turnover:eek:

I've swapped the main battery over to the leisure as it was at 12.15v (the leisure battery is at 12.5v and new last year) and cleaned the terminals and tightened

Stater motor replaced and tightened the terminals

    Still not turning over:(

    Any ideas, thanks in advance

  2. Give the starter a smack with hammer, sometimes works, had had the same trouble last year took mine off clean it up put it back started first time,
    Steve,

  3. Fitted a new starter today:(

  4. Connections in the ignition?
Mine does same. Try pushing the key forwards and backwards while turning it.

Could be a faulty ignition switch or a dodgy wire, take a wire directly from the starter terminal( has a black and red wire on) touch it on the battery positive if it turns is wiring, if not its possible earth issues or the stater is faulty

  6. Put a wire from your positive on the battery to the spade connection on the starter solonoid. Make sure it is in neutral with the hand brake on. If it turns over it is possibly the ignition switch. There are more options

Oh poo, the old site used to tell you when other replies had been posted :)

  7. Sorry just saw you said you get a click from the solenoid. So do as others have said. Then either run a new wire to ignition or fit a hot start relay.

Try jump leads from a car, sounds like either an earth issue or faulty starter, where you based ?

  9. Try cleaning the earth to the gear box too

  10. Thanks for the ideas.....davidoft I'm near Twickenham.

  11. Maybe first connect a jump lead between the engine casing and the negative on the battery. If no improvement then the vehicle earthing is probably OK
