Have you got or would you like a house name

DO people stil give there houses names and have you got one , or what would you call it , im thinking JD towers or Baygotmymoney , or baysrest

 

ours is called Castle view, we have no street name just village name after that

 

I'd love to call ours Graceland. But my wife won't got for it.

my parents house is called 'oak view'
i have been toying with the idea of calling our house 'tambor'

 

My house is called Seafield House - it's nowhere near the sea or any fields.

 

Some houses like little old cottages or big country houses or farms ect do have house names but when see "normal" houses on "normal" streets that have had the number replaced by a name I tend to think its a little pretentious, the car on the drive often has private plates as well never mind each to their own

 

I hate house names, You live on a normal road give out your house name not the number though, oh no that would be too easy, make the poor sod thats looking for your stupidly named house drive up and down the road 5 times because you've put a stupid little sign behind a bush where it cant be seen, but the number 47 is perfectly clear but nooooo you have put your address as little cottage, its an ex council town house for gods sake! Rant over.

There's a sign in our porch that says Heathlea, looked on an old OS map and it has been known as that for quite some time but we don't use it. Maybe we ought too.

A few years ago when we had a LOT of rabbits, a friend of ours suggested we call our house Warren Mitchell.

Although we didn't go for it, the sad git that I am, I used the idea to rename our home computer network's workgroup WARRENMITCHELL. After all, 'WORKGROUP' sounds so boring......

 

Anyone who replaces their house number with a name is just queer
