  1. I was wondering what sort of percentage of bay owners have at some time broken down, regardless of whether you managed to fix it and continue yourself or had to be recovered home.

  10. Yes, but stupidly because points weren't screwed tight enough. Got towed home before I'd realised. Lesson learnt, don't panic and go through check lists. Last year the bus was backfiring, figured out breather hose on manifold was split, thanks to @Barneyrubble but after applying a bit of gaffa tape, all was fine

  11. Yep - 40 miles after buying it. Engine overheated and destroyed itself.

I bought it from a guy who worked in Marketing. I should've known.

I did once due to a new set of points having a duff wire... a new set of points and the holiday continued. Not bad in 16 years ownership. :)

  14. Yep twice in Lakes - 1st time near Kendal, rear brakes binding and boiled brake fluid - Nice RAC man came and freed them off for me. 2nd time in Bowness Windermere - stalled on hot day in heavy traffic - refused to start for 1/2 hour RAC gave me guidance on phone and got us started again.

  16. Just once, had a front balljoint detach itself from the top suspension arm at about 40mph. It was probably on our shortest camping trip as well, Northampton to Stratford on Avon!
