Has anyone redone the heater tubes rear to front?

What fan are you using?
Most who have added a fan have found them to melt after a while as they are not designed to move hot air.

 

if you've replace the pods with just some fixed elbows doesn't that mean you have the heating on all the time, even in the summer?

 

Yep opening the cool air flap anf diverting heat to totem does reduce temp in cabin ok but yes you do have to remove for summer ops .....or maybe divert it at front end

 

not tried it yet but have 914 electric heat exchanger blower fan with only one outlet that I intend to fit to the side of main tube so not always in air flow although the fan part is plastic so might melt also means still have unrestricted heat when fan is of as really only need it at low rpm, the guys on the samba recon an early or cross over bay type 4 (with steel fan works ok but the double outlet complicates fitting without modifying it) also have a brick Eberspaecher re circulating fan that is steel to try if not.but needs a clean up and overhaul. also had my eye on a t25 type 4 alternator with blower fan attached but prob need loads of mods to get it to fit.

before i got my bus i rented a westy that had its heater flaps wired permanently on hot - this was in august and it was an absolute PITA. driving in hot weather with the heater full on was not enjoyable!

 

I just removed the entire center pipe for this summer as its just 2 jubilee clips now!
problem is those pods not only leak but seem to massively disrupt / slow down the air flow, I found just wiring them full open(which would be easier to remove come summer)and sealing up holes as much as possible made verry little difference. probably because part of the flap inside is always in the air flow.
I laughed my head off when I first saw someone on the samba suggest it!
