Look at Brian May, his main guitar is one he & his Dad made. It's been used on a lot of the work from Queen & afterwards.
There was a fella at Wood Festival in 2011 who had one he'd made, a tenor guitar with frets n all, pretty playable, and on their site there was a link to how to make one..... Wood is on again this year but we're not going , so if anyone goes and sees that fella (he was running a workshop on making yer own instruments) please get his details, pretty pretty please.................
I cant play any instument but this post of malcs has made me want to make somthing from scrap that in the right hands provide entertainment Ive probably more chance of learning if its somthing ive made myself

Mark 2 - in production now - okay i lied about using another biscuit tin but this is way cooler Still lots of work to do - sanding , making the bridges and adding the tuning keys , this one will be a four string just for authenticity - pleased so far even though i i had to hand cut down the length of the neck to narrow it so has he can play the frets without finger ache !

ta tiny - i can't wait to get it all sanded and varnished , its gonna be coowel i might make it six string and add a leccy pick up
Trial stung Action is too close to the sound board ( hubcap ) and too far from the neck - but the guitar is looking like i want it to - sort it tomorrow
