The day England celebrates the Turkish-born Greek-Roman patron saint of Portugal, Catalonia, Malta, Romania and Aragon as English sainthood. Good, eh

He got about a bit. Never mind, a tattoo of him slaying the dragon to accompany a flag of St George on your neck will prove you never came over on a boat and you’re a true bulldog!

    Happy St George’s day!

They had a St George's Day classic car parade near me on Sunday (didn't go). Quite funny as a lot of the cars were American

  4. it’s all true, ! Especially the dragon slaying part… I remember this depiction the most. This is from the Ahus cathedral Denmark. I think he’s impressing the lady. Or maybe the goat. Next to her .

I used to love St George’s day celebrations locally. We had parties and had little flags, cake, beer for the grown ups, bit of music and maybe a few went to church, but since the far right adopted the flag it all seems a bit too political to enjoy it as a national saints day. Sad really as those innocent days were nice!

They’re celebrated more than birthdays in lots of countries. My wife’s parents always remind my eldest of his saints name day. It’s just tradition now as they aren’t very religious at all!

  10. I dare any Englishman to try that on the streets of Merthyr Tydfill. They'll knock your bloody block off.

  11. Happy St. Georges Day to one and all - my camper is the only non-English made vehicle I had ever owned at the time - (I have since bought a Mondeo which is made in Belgium)

Flags can bring the best and the worst out of society, sadly.

One one side someone can fly their flag with pride and not utter bile and hatred and bne proud, whilst yep on the opposite it is used to mark someone territory or symbolise a harsh narrative of what they believe to be pure and correct.

Where my family is from, the flag was a symbol of which side you were on. Glad to say the hatred has weakened with a lot of people in Norn Ireland - folk once labelled as Unionists are know taking up Irish Gaelic lessons.

On a personal opinon, probably due to my background, I am less offended by the England flag than I am by the Union Jack.

Happy St George's day folks btw

Why allow to think the far right have adopted the flag . A bunch of tin pot lunatics that will not be successful , there are not that many when all told ,although the media will tell otherwise .
Its not their's is yours and mine Malc . They don't deserve it .

That's actually a picture of him in Yorkshire (you can tell by the flat caps everyone's wearing) and the goat is actually a Whippet.

Is there a nation that doesn't have a flag representing it ?
