Hamish - Our '73 tintop

Discussion in 'Show Us Your Ride' started by raoulduke, Mar 13, 2012.

  1. So, I finally managed to get a free 10 minutes on a day when it wasn't raining and got a few snaps.

This is Hamish, we bought him a month ago after he turned up in our town with a for sale sign in the window. He ain't perfect but he's exactly the sort of thing we were looking for - a running, usable van with scope for us to improve him and learn as we go along.

  4. Hello and welcome nice looking bus you have

  5. Lovely looking bus - looks very tidy :)

Just one thing I noticed but it may be a model thing - i thought the earlier bays had the indicators lower down and a step up bumper? Im not a 100% on this though i thought it was the bays from the late 70s that had the high up indis and boring (Sorry standard) bumper (like mine - i love the step up bumper :( but i dont think it would look right on a 78)

  10. Thanks for the kind words. I'd like to take the credit but he's just the way we bought him.

We're not planning on doing anything major yet. There are a couple of blisters in the paint that need attention (so expect silly questions on here soon) but apart from that the plan is just to get out and about in him and get a feel for what we need/want. Main thing will be getting new cab doors cos ours are rotted through underneath, but I'm slightly worried after 75tintop's report of the JK ones. That and trying to reconnect the heating.

I think we're also going to need a full-width bed but I want to go out a few times and see just how much storage we need before we rip out 2/3s of what we have. I'd like to tart up the cupboards a bit too but there's not much point starting that if we're going to lose most of them.

So yeah, apart from the new doors, new heating, new interior, oh and maybe a leisure battery, we're not planning much ::)
