Gritters

  1. I haven't seen many out over the past week or so. I must say the roads in Norwich have been a nightmare to drive on. Saturday night i could feel the car struggle for traction when pulling away at junctions & traffic lights and man alive the massive traffic light junction down by our local sainsbury's, well put it this way, you could have held the world ice skating championships on it and that was what 20mins before hoards of shoppers descended down there.

I did however see a couple of gritters out last night but they were not in action. Whether they were off to reload i dont know but the roads ahead didn't look like they had been gritted at all and the synic in me thinks that maybe they were out for visual purposes. A few friends have also stated they have seen gritters out but not a lot of gritting happening.

Have we a shortage on our hands or are they using it sparingly for fear of more severe conditions?

  2. We've had snow for the past 3 days and it has now started to rain clearing all the snow away. Guess what.....they're gritting the roads

  3. we havent had ANY snow yet been gritting for 5 days, making a mess of the wifes car

  4. The main motorways and trunk roads are being gritted and there is not a shortage of grit for them.

The local roads are your county council responsiblity they might not be gritting so much due to cut backs etc etc

  5. Save some money, lose some lives

If memory serves me right i think NCC have a history of not putting the gritters on the road at this time of year. It was really bad last year you even took your life in your own hands walking along the pavements.

They hadn't bothered gritting the A47 at around 5pm yesterday so i avoided coming back home that way. I've never seen traffic moving so slow down that stretch of road!

  6. driving back from Soton yesterday I followed 2 gritters on the M27 ... hogging the middle lane chucking salt everywhere .... how rude

  7. Its been raining here so no gritters have been seen round here.
Only had one frosty morning so far which is odd.

  8.
  9. Its the first year i've had a RWD car (well van) as a daily driver too so was looking forward to some sideways action.>:D

  10. why ....there aint no snow in lundun

    yet !

  11. It's been raining here constantly all day, so there won't be any gritting, because it'll all just get washed away. However it's bound to clear up by tonight, the roads will freeze, and it'll be Torville and Dean time...................

  12. no gritters last night and saw loads of cars in ditches this morning. was scary stuff.
