Greetings from Ayrshire

  1. Hello all!

My Sunday name is Steven but I prefer to be called Elvis. After a lifetime of longing, I finally bought myself a VW camper in March last year. Her name is Ruby and she's a '79 Westy in red and white. So far, I'm absolutely loving the experience and my other half and our two daughters are just as pleased.

I live in Prestwick, Ayrshire and I hope to meet some of you at future VW events but I think I'm going to need some time to get to grips with the forum!

    Cheers,

    Elvis

Welcome to the forum! Unusual roof, 79's usually have the hinges at the rear - is it a conversion?

welcome! as mork says, it's not what it once was, more pic's and info would be good "Thank you very much"

  7. Hi there!

  8. Thanks for the welcome guys, I'm afraid I don't know an awful lot about the van. I do know that it was restored in 2008 and that it was previously yellow in colour. Any way I could try to find out more? The previous owner is a friend but he doesn't know much other than it's restoration date.

Rickyrooo1 - nice stealthy Elvis reference!

  10. I was going to do a welcome message with a load of Elvis titles thrown in, but I've looked up a list on wikipedia and there's so many and I really should be doing more useful things with my time! So just a normal welcome after all ...

    Welcome to the madhouse!

  11. Welcome ,nice van
    Any more pictures?

find the m plate and post a picture of it up, all will be revealed...... i will put a picture up later of what you're looking for if noone else does, it's a metal tag about 3cm x 6cm riveted to the heater duct behind the dash or the seat.

  13. Gonna say the interior looks like an earlyish westy one?
Could be missing out on free tax!
