I keep having the idea of turning my van come respray into something influenced by a B17, so silver, and then get one of the nose art girls painted on the side. Why not do something like that. I've seen on here a great red panel van with something similar.
I would keep it clean. May be swap the mirrors for colour coded desmo style... You also mentioned in another thread about bumpers. Why not have custom side step tubes made to match the Baja style bumpers?
Whatever you do, don't spoil it with chrome trim, deluxe or otherwise! It's always wonky and never quite lines up properly around the bus. Also looks odd the way it stops at the front, unlike splits where it's more substantial trim and goes all the way round. IMHO of course!!
I have a sign company RooSigns and think your van would be awesome sign written do a search for Poole bay Hooker a similar colour bay with great signage , I used to have a 21 window samba in that colour http://www.youtube.com/user/roocarl?blend=2&ob=5#p/u/14/WubwH53l-QU I thought the colours looked cool on that I now have a late bay fully sign written with your style of van I would go for a retro Moon eyes type theme (retro but custom) but something personal to you! Best wishes Carl
Maybe you should do the bumper first. I'm thinking that that might change the whole look of the van and make it easier to work out if it needs anything else. I think it's great already mind you.
Zed thanks for positive comments! there are lots of standard westfalia, or oak look units and mad matz vans out there and nothing wrong with that but its nice to see something different ! is that colour Turkis? looks very similar to my old Samba ? cool paint job in your pic! my friend is stripping down his bay for a respray ,Its an original paint van about 3" of rust on the whole van but he wants a different colour he is stripping all the van down removing windows and all , what would you say was a fair price for spray, body, door shuts etc ?? i think hes paying a bit much? cheers Carl
Thankyou for all your positive feed back think i am gonna get the 4 nerf bars made 1st and a front baja style bar and then see which combination looks best. i now remember the poole bay hooker i love the idea of a woman on the door kinda retro but modern at same time. I am also seriously in love with the roo beach fire dept bus love that you used its original use and incorparated into your company i have wondered how i could find out my buses original use then get sign written in a modern day style but not sure how to find out original use a friend of mine as a earlier bay and you could faintly make out signage on side so had it put on then cut back to look original
