Governed Rotor Arm on Standard T2 Dizzy ??

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by AndyBcountry, Jun 5, 2022.

  1. It just stops your engine revving past 5400 rpm.

Which you are unlikely to want to do in a 1600 bay window anyway.

Some people may advise you to replace it with a stock one.

I fitted one to mine after my accelerator jammed on going down the M1, thought it may prevent engine damage if it happened again.

It turned out my issue was an air filter stuff breaking and falling down the butterfly thing in one of the carbs, meaning it jammed open & accelerated on its own.

If you get your engine revving fast enough for it to do anything (5,400 rpm), hold onto your hat! :D

009 is not standard. Pertronix is not standard. If the engine runs ok I wouldn't worry about it

  3. Long term, worth getting rid of it. It’s just another thing to fail.

My all time record seems to be about 5700 rpm rolling down hill in second with about 37mph on the speedo..
Was concentrating on joining the flow on the motorway, forgot to change gear. That took a progressive carburettor and a JK stainless single quiet pack to even let it rev that high..

I wouldnt bother with leaving something like that fitted. If you arent driving it like a delivery van driver you dont need it.
