Gordy's new interior

  1. Hello All. I had a couple of people ask to post pics of my van, Gordy the 1979 Devon Moonraker. Despite my lack of ability posting photos I have added a link to my flickr account so you can see them there. When I work it out I'll post them properly.

Anyway, I changed the interior this year to make it safer for my kids and to make more spoace for all of us to laze about on rainy days. So the old moonraker interior went (sadly) and I got Individual Campers of Westward Ho! to make me a new one with birch faced ply. We got a full width bed, which allowed us the space and meant we could install two inertia reel belts with a lap belt in the middle (for the dog?). The door cards and panels were replaced in ply (with a view to getting some made up to match the cushion covers at some point). We also had a buddy box made up to fit our porta potti, which means we can go wild if we need to. Was very useful in Scotland! We kept the original fridge and the orignal cooker and got a new slim drainer instead of the sink (which I rarely used anyway). We also added a flap which lifts up when cooking to give more chopping space. Underneath that is a locker for the gas bottle and hook-up cables etc. They also made a new top locker and table.

Covers from Newton via JK, bed from Bluebird, seat belts from JK.

It works really well and gives us loads more living space. It's also really good for cooking as I've got enough work surface and the cupboards are all within easy reach of the buddy box.

The double top is brilliant and was the main reason for choosing the moonraker. Our last 3 T25s all had similar layouts 'upstairs' which works well having two kids. It's their little wendy house. The space above the cab is handy for storage too.

Oh yes, and my new westy trailer. £100 on ebay. A bargin I think (maybe not!).

    Cheers all.

i really need to get mine sorted.

  4. does the full width bed suit a lot better for the kids
its one of the reasons i brought my westie was for the seating i ve got a vikeing aswell but you can only get lap belts in the back really so i have my 5 yr old up front and my 2 yr old in the back in a car seat but when she gets a bit bigger going to struggle with seat belts in the viking
