Joined the Camping & Caravan Club. After enjoying a great site Christmas Day and Boxing Day decided to join up. I like to know that the site I am going to will have good facilities, pretty well laid out and we'll kept, I know I know that there are loads of good sites out there and yes there are some C & C sites that don't make the mark but more strings to the bow and a better chance to enjoy some good camping.
we have been members for 2 years now at its not bad saved us a fortune. We go to the new forest a lot and you get £3 a night off the main sites and then we use a lot of the sites with no toilets (we take a porta potty) and pay around £6 a night. Not had a problem with any rules i think that's more the caravan club.
Beware the sailsbury site. Regulation pitch includes parking facing the right way and a tape measure. They pitched us then threatened to move us round to a position where with awning the camper would have been wedged in unable to get out of pitch to drive away. they also do a measuring hitler march and use cork markers to check you are in the pitch. We left one day early and had 4 phonecalls telling us off for not telling them. We had to call A A to site and despite us letting reception know we still got told off for not letting some other man know.
I just use most of the sites anyway , just ring them direct, if they ask for a membership number I use my brother in laws and call myself Mike for a few nights
If you go to the site near cricceth nth wales take your tape measure so you don't park in the wrong place and don't light any candles in case it gets confused with a fire don't expect the shop to be open ..
Best buy yourself a breathable groundsheet for the awning now oh and as others have said a tape measure and compass to get the pitch regulation correct
