gun deaths in the u.k in 2012 is 39
gun deaths in the u.s in 2012 is 94,134

i think that says a lot about "the right to arms"

Wait for the first NRA loony to say that if the children & teachers had been armed this wouldn't have happened.
I'm not against firearm ownership, I own a couple of guns but the only thing I shoot are clay pigeons

  7. I'm against gun ownership, it's not the wild west anymore, you don't have to protect yourself, there's a police force. People are too unstable to be trusted with something so instantly lethal.
If you're an American and you have a firearm in your home you have a statistically greater chance of being accidently killed with your own gun than you do of using it to kill an intruder.

We also have some of the strictest gun ownership laws in the world. The police can arrive on my doorstep & demand the right to see my gun safe (which must be locked & bolted to either the floor or wall). The seperate safe where the ammunition is kept, I don't have one as I buy the shells at the shooting range on the day. My gun owner/shooters license has to be kept with me any time I have the guns with me.
In my case I have shotguns which are kept locked away at all times when not at the shooting range, friends with rifles have to have a seperate safe to store the bolts in & automatic weapons are strictly forbidden.

    Remember Dunblain Don ?

We had the same laws at that time, afterwards over 1 million people wrote to their mps asking for guns to be banned, most tory mps wrote back saying it wouldn't help etc, people persisted and we now have zero gun tolerance and the tightest gun laws in Europe and no more Dunblain's or hungerford.

    hopefully anyway

I do Malc, our laws were tightened up after the Port Arthur Massacre in Tasmania & not before time too.

    Sad times bud.

  12. All guns even air rifles should be outlawed full stop in the UK ,cant think of any scenario of any civilian needing one.
Target practice ? for what? do something else.

  16. This story is so sad. The innocent get hurt again.
It's not the guns that need banning , it's the unstable nutters that gain access to them!
    :(

  20. Ohhhhh! :( :( What can you say. It breaks my heart when I read things like this. My thoughts are with all those poor families.

Some of the reporting on this last night was awful. Camera crews zooming in on anguished parents crying.....leave them alone you vultures!  And the reporter saying what a terrible time of year for this to happen....errr no.......it's a horrendous thing to happen at any time of year.... not just because it's near Christmas!

When is the USA going to admit that they are not running a frontier town anymore ::) and it's not necessary for everyone to be carrying a gun. Trouble is the pro gun lobby is just too rich and powerful for tighter restrictions to be brought in.
