Have you had one recently? Supposed to get one at 50 apparently, the practice in Wales is to give you half of sweet fanny adams and make you wait at least 3 weeks before seeing a GP in the hope you die or are cured in the interim. Anyway. I went mail order. £16 for something that takes 15 minutes and whilst they aren’t perfect, it would hopefully trigger me to go to gp if it came back positive. It is worth doing gents.
Of course it’s worth it. It could save your life. I have one every year, but don’t need to see my GP. Just ring the surgery and tell the sergeant major that I am due my annual PSA blood test. They arrange a for to be collected by me. Then I phone the local hospital, for an appointment. (The surgery don’t take blood tests). A week after the test, I ring the surgery again for the results. Job done
Use caution I did one of the post ones from a prostate charity, they were giving them out at a show. you prick your finger and squeeze blood into a tube. The results came back sky high so went to the doctors they had never seen these tests kits before and were not impressed and couldn’t see them working and was worried about people using them. 3 blood tests a week apart and a month and a half of worrying and all results were low for my age.
I’m booked in for one on 12th, I have one every 2 years (now aged 57), have had no problem arranging one at my doctors in Dyserth North Wales. My old fella died 21yrs ago aged 60. Prostrate Cancer was caught too late and had spread into his bones organs etc. Be persistent if you’re getting fobbed off Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It’s worth doing and the earlier the better. If prostate cancer is found early enough the chances of being cured are high.
