  1. HI advie please
has anyone ever fitted a type 4 1700 engine into a 72 bay using a none type 4 gearbox? what i mean is a gearbox with no front mounting lugs, and if so how did you suport the front of the gearbox were it joins the engine, i no its not suported on a 1600 type 2 but a type 4 is a lot more weight,
can a bell housing with lugs on befitted onto one without lugs on?

im looking for a gearbox with the lugs on if anyone has one for sale

    cheers

It is more weight though I expect it would be ok. Yes you can fit any bell housing to your gearbox, There are two different kinds with mounts, later ones are deeper and require a different stater motor so early would be a cheaper job.
