sorry for all the tech questions, busses are new to me and there are a few quirks im not sure about.

I whipped out the gearbox the other day to give it a clean up and paint and was hoping that was all it would need since by all reports there bomb proof boxes ..

I noticed while removing the drive shafts that there was a bit of movement on the drive flange from the box.

after getting the box on the floor minus drive shafts I checked the drive flanges again by gripping the flange and wigling it. There was definately a little play, not in and out but side to side top to bottom type.. not a lot say a couple of millimetres not so much thats its whalloping about but there is definately a little movement...

anything to be worried about ?

All I can say from experience is that of course they shouldn't be like that, but half I see are, including my own. Replacing the worn bits requires setting pre-load and one for the experts. If you replace the seals it'll help, but it's again clear that they won't last so long. However these boxes go on and on if you can put up with a dribble of oil and the noise.

I've seen far worse than you describe running around happily.
