Gear selection issues advise

  1. Hello All I am sure i have used TLB before but not for a while and i will re introduce myself in the appropriate bit very soon. But i am desperate for a bit of help/advise if you would be so kind. anyways here is the story Changed the gearbox on my bay yesturday. However the box i changed to I knew very little about but i do know it selected all gears in the van it was in but had no engine so couldnt test. So i took my chances. swapped the box last night now I cant get it into gears 1 or 3 but can hit 2nd 3 rd and reverse and puts drive to the wheels in these gears. Now I have been told that 2 4 and reverse are on seperate runners in the box so it is very unlikely to be the box, but i have no idea how acurate this is as i am happy to unbolt things and bolt them back up but the workings of the box is beyond me. Anyways I have a scat shifter in there and have been advised that it will be that that is just inneed of some adjustment. I put it in on the old box and managed to get it right first time, not that this helps me now. So would you advise putting a stock shifer back on or do you think the box is shafted. Reason i am desperate is i am off to big bang friday and need to sort it even if i have to swap the boxes back friday morn.

sorry for jumping in in-need of help.

  2. I'd fit the stock shifter and plate, adjust that then see what you get. If its fine then you know the Scat needs adjusting but your box is okay.
