Gear lever re-assemble

Hi,

I took my gear lever and relevant bits off a few weeks ago to give them a bit of rust treatment and a re-spray.

It's finally stopped raining long enough for me to get out and put it back together and just realised I didn't take a photo of the important bit that I conveniently can't remember which way round it goes.

Here's a picture of the offending item, does it sit with the little 'lippy bits' in the middle face down or up and which side does the smaller lippy bit go, on the right or the left when looking from above?



I've looked in my books and online and can't find anything on it.

 

Can't see picture but I guess you mean the shift plate....lippy bits upwards with the smallest one to the left (nearside)

 

I'm left hand drive, does that make a difference.

I know it's a stupid question but I thought it worth asking before I spend time putting it all back together again.
