Gas bottles

  1. What kind of gas supply do you use.
My Westie came with two Camping Gaz bottles, though room for something a bit bigger in the locker. They work fine, the cooker and fridge like the gas, not too large, so convenient. Bit expensive methinks.
    Anyone got a better idea?

  2. You could fit an underslung lpg tank and refill at petrol stations

Or im sure i saw refillable lpg bottles for camping cookers on the net somewhere

do a google search for gaslow
I just use a 6kg propane light bottle and it works out about the same price a a 907.

  4. I like the idea of an underslung tank. I've seen second hand ones for sale a few times on the forums for not that much.
Problem with the westy (or the earlier continental/helsinki ones anyway) is that a 3kg gamping gaz bottle is about as big as you can fit in the locker and you can't get calor bottles that small according to my loca gas centre.:(

  5. Good ideas guys, thanks. My Westie is a Helsinki and I get two 907s in the locker. I like the idea of underslung though as I now have a useful space underfloor where took out the defunct Ebersprecher heater.

  7. I've got a 4.5kg calor gas bottle. Calor gas works out much cheaper than campingaz.

  8. If you plan on winter camping then use propane not butane

Butane stops becoming a gas at low temps

    Tuesday wildchild I'm a circle!

We have camping gaz 904 and a 901 plus calor 4.5kg. Ruby came with calor but found it NOT in france so purchased a dumpy camiping gaz.

Think I'l drop the calor and go GAZ.

  10. Dump the gas cookers and convert your gas bottle to use renewable fuel
