hi all just got a quick question. I've just got the van back from being painted so came back on tow. I have tried to start it but just cranks and does not want to fire until I let the key back then seems to catch and fires sometimes. just to add I have replaced the igntion switch but still the same. does anyone have any ideas. thanks for your time chris
Why did you cahnge the switch - sounds like you dont have a coil feed in the start position. Was that the original problem?
To check for the above run a wire from your battery to the positive coil connection on the coil. If it start like its supposed to then thats your issue. Just remember your engine, if it starts, will continue to run with the ignition switch off. Then just pull the wire off. Simples.
yep spot on with wire from battery starts like normal but the question is why am I losing the feed to the coil. I thought the coil was on a switched live from the igntion switch and when you turn the key to crank it just sent a live to the starter solenoid
