FOR SALE Fully SOLD restored/rebuilt 1978 VW Devon RHD Camper with pop top roof, racks & awning - £12,500

  1. Big Vern is a 1978 VW Devon Camper with pop top roof and has been our dependable holiday camper for a family of 5 for the past 12 years. Its recently had much work done to restore to “as new” condition with fully professionally restored and painted bodywork and restored chassis underneath, rebuilt suspension, new 1600cc engine, new starter motor, new exhaust, new cupboard units, new wiring, new fridge, stereo etc and it's ready for many more years of enjoyment. There's a leisure battery with two electrical points and new stereo. Accommodation is a rock and roll double bed and three single hammock beds, including one over the cab. The kitchen has a two hob cooker and grill, and gas electric fridge and a diner style table and seating. Included is a roof rack, kayak racks, bike racks and an awning!
    Major work costing c £12,000 in 2014/15 were: Replacement cab doors, outer sills replaced, front wheel arches repaired, rear wheel arch panels replaced, rear valance panel replaced. Repairs and welding to front clip panel. Welding to chassis members in engine bay, welding new jacking points, replacement belly pan, chassis outriggers repaired. Repair of rear axle beam, replacement drag links & balljoints, new steering box, CV joints replaced, new exhaust box, new front and rear bumpers. All rust has been cut out and new metal or panels welded in. Full professional panel preparation and a respray in two tone colours. New engine from The Engine Shop, now run in. Main wiring loom replaced and van completely rewired, with charger points installed front and back and wired to new leisure battery. With service history, receipts and guarantees for all work.
    The Camper is totally solid and rust free, is fully sorted, looks lovely, drives like a dream and has a new MOT. It’s had all the important and expensive work done and is ready to go!

  6. You'd be crackers to let that go for 12.5k.

    Having said that in about March next year if you've still got it then pm me. I suspect at that price it wouldn't be long on eBay before it sells..

    DVLA has it as a 2L engine so it's a bit of a shame that the replacement is a 1600 really, but apart from that it looks very nice for 12.5K. I imagine it must have sold already..............

  11. Reckon that's too cheap. I'd go on eBay and hope to get nearer £15k for all the work you've done. It looks great.
