Fuel injection fuel pump cut-off question

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by fred8888, Feb 1, 2015.

  1. Hello,

I want to install a switch to cut off fuel pump but i can't determine which wire to use.
If i'm correct the fuel pump is activated by the double relay from the injection. Which wire can I use best to cut off power to the fuel pump? I'm thinking to use connection 85 (ground)...

    regards,
    Fred

The electric pump won't run unless cranking or pulling air through the air valve as there's 2 triggers, if it stalls it stops, if you leave ignition on it doesn't run, as matt says, why for?

  3. I just installed a firetec extinguisher and want to be able to cut off fuel pump is something should happen...

I'd use the live from the air regulator then, in effect it would be just like turning the ignition off.

If the engines not running the fuel pump shuts off automatically, if you can get to a fuel cut off switch you can get to the ignition switch

I think there's a trigger on the firetec to turn it off that's why he's asking.

Not that I'm aware of, unless there is a newer kit out

  8. Vw were quite clever when they designed this system. Its off when the ignition is on as long as the accelerator isn't being pressed, along with other conditions as well.

No dear it's off , as long as there is no air flow past the air flow meter, like when running or cranking :)

  10. Ok, I had it in my head that the accelerator opens the throttle disc which draws air in, moving the AFM flap which moves the afm wiper and engages the fuel pump

I think we learned that wasn't so when mine wouldn't start
