An FPR014 fuel reg will go down to 3 psi from 88 psi , I use 1 . fuel injection pump to carb use.

  2. I feel for you. Your symptoms sound a lot like I had for five years, and mine also ended up being an occasionally blocked fuel tank outlet. (mine was a bit of plastic). So frustrating isn't it! I was lucky as I was able to remove the little bit of plastic in the tank and it's run well ever since (two months now, 1500 miles). It is SUCH a relief. So, fingers crossed yours is the same and, by the looks of the rust in the tank, I bet you're right. Perhaps that was the FI problem all along but, like you, I also changed loads and loads of stuff chasing the issue cos it was almost impossible to track down. So, fingers crossed for you.

However, not sure you can put a tank in without engine out?

  3. If you haven't done so already, you can use a 3 pin oil pressure switch for the +ve trigger for the pump relay. This way, if the oil pressure drops below a certain level (determined by the switch you use) the fuel pump cuts out. It's not totally fail safe but it's an additional safety measure; better than an ignition fed cut off solenoid IMO. The switch most suitable for type 1 engines is an Airtex 1S6554.

Filter kings can be quite touchy depending on their location in relation to the pump and the float bowl(s). I had all sorts of issues with the first install I did. Now I'm using a Gold Facet fixed to the slanted bulkhead running to the filter king which is just below the float bowl height (twin DRLAs). All seems fine. The bracket supplied with Malpassi is quite flimsy. The filter needs to be secure ie not bouncing around on a thin bit of tinware

  4. Yep pretty sure I’ve sorted it now it’s just teething problems you get on resurrected busses, plus was trying to milk it round till I move! And yes probably also why it was parked up on the states!
I didn’t pull FI because of breakdown, I fixed that within 5 mins of getting gone, just felt it was on its last teeth anyway and needed going thru which is difficult in uk due to parts shortage, I couldn’t even get an accelerator cable the right length! I normally pull engine and flush tank on project busses but thought it would be ok just checking the filter for a few weeks as all my other buss tanks have had stack pipes in the tank.
I just couldn’t work out why it was effectively running out of fuel when still had just under 1/2 tank.
The boys on the samba recon fuel tank is doable with engine in but I’ll just pull it and give it all a good going over and new clutch n exhaust etc once I’ve moved.

  5. Cheers for info px switch is on my to do list of ADD’S ! And was thinking maybee a gold top pump will be re doing filter reg properly when I get chance as still not keen on it in ENG bay.

  6. IIRC the gold pump has the right pressure range for Dells but you can dial it in with the filter king. Seem to remember some bad reviews about those disc type regulators when I did mine. No guarantees with much these days :(
