Front grille trim

  1. I've seen a few on buses and there is one on the July edition of VWorld Camper mag. The grille trim that goes round the front grille.

Is this an original part of abus build or is it a fancy add on that makes it look different? Just wondered as we have one of those mysterious water drips and i need to know if this is a seal i am missing in the grille. Im asking because i think im wrong and this seal is an add on, but sometimes although i am a quick learner i have to respect my knowledge of VW's is in its infancy.

If it was an prototype bay then it's proper trim. They do look nice. I looked at getting one for mine but with our high light it wouldn't work.

You use to be able to get trim for just the grills on the late bay instead of a chrome vent panel but I've not seen those for sale for ages.

With regards to the water drip, are you getting water in behind the front panel??

There is or should be a drain pipe coming out of the air box and then running through to the outside. It's not uncommon for it to be missing.

  4. oh yeah forgot about that pipe, thought i had looked for it but cant remember, my short term memory is shot to fark. I will look. If i remember correctly it was off to the left of the totem in the passenger side. I will have to investigate further but was still wondering about the trim too.
