  1. Morning Guys,
I have just treated myself to a pair of just kampers door cards and right away i find them to be 3mm MDF usual script of them going to absorb moisure etc but im going to seal them up anyways but when I was looking at this how do you secure the door card to the door.

I bought my van with no real interior to start with and this is my first van, its a 1975 commercial van and slowly putting my touches to it.

there is a load of holes round the outside to put poppers on to hold the door but im struggling with how can't i see other folks poppers on theior vans?? are they put onto the door card and then trimmed over as i bought naked ones >:D so its a one time job...

a few folk have said to screw them on or use tiger seal but i really think i'm going to be in and out with this van and sealing it up ain't the best route forward!

    cheers
    lewis

  2. You can purchase clips mate that clip onto the door card and then push through those holes. They are in bags of 50. Is it a finished door card or just the mdf? If you look at my interior post you might be able to see some.

Also, a sheet of plastic (thick binbag type thing) behind the card helps with moisture.

  3. aye, got the "justkampers" book infront of me the now. the clips, are these the ones with the U shaped clip so these would go onto my door card and then the popper type thing would then pop onto the door. Also yeah, it was the bare cards I bought as I have grey leather alfa seats in mine and looking to continue the theme throughout the van!

  5. nice! also, what is the deal with the rubber grommits? are these to go in the door so that the poppers dont scratch the paint when being held? just that they are about £6 for a big bag and if im doing a job its worth doing right I suppose!

getting excited about this! painting my dash later today so when thats all in, I am doing the door cards! :)

  6. The rubbers are crap, I couldn't make them fit and just went with the clips :D

  7. I would use the rubbers. I just pushed mine in with a pencil or a match. They make a snug fit and don't rattle.

Panel is much more secure and they are cheap as chips

  8. The rubbers do indeed protect the paint. You need to check the size of the holes in your doors. Most of the rubbers sold are for 8mm holes, rather than earlier 6mm.

  9. Don't think the vans ever came with the rubbers as standard did they? I've just taken my door cards off and its the first time they have been off and I haven't had one rubber bung...

You can buy them on ebay.
The rubbers also part of the waterproofing for the cards. Not so important where there isn't water dribbling past but useful on the cab doors.
