Front arch repair?

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by NewtoVW, Nov 12, 2013.

  1. On closer inspection of my front arch,I noticed that there were some weld tacks down the B post..So I very gently removed them and peeled back the skin to find that the PO had tacked the metal from what I think is the side of a fridge/cooker to the bus :( The B post was rotten as is the bottom of the A post and the inner arch was just a crust:(
Wanting to put this right I went to a local show and had a look at a new complete front arch, but decided against it as it weighed next to nothing, was flimsy and very very expensive.
Instead I found an original complete arch with the lower A and B posts intact .Very solid and only slight surface rust :)
My question is has anyone fitted one of these or is it possible to fit as a single piece?
    Many thanks :)

i dont know i think they are pattern parts but nice fit

  9. No holes in the step for the mat would indicate its a pattern part

As para says with holes in for the mat, easy to replicate tho if need be

  14. Ken did the a pillar and b pillar and seat belt mount also need repairing or was that price for just removing the old arch and fitting the new one

  15. The original rubbers had little lugs that located in pre drilled holes

yes repaired all bits around seat belt and put the new bit to form the grove by the bottom of the pillar

  17. £485 wow...That is ten hours at £40 a hour ,I guess things have gone up....

  18. Seems reasonable as those repro arches are a very poor fit and there was remedial work to do first
Id imagine the fella has overheads to cover aswell
