Fridge vent for 3 way fridge

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by baygeekster, Aug 22, 2012.

  1. I've got hold of a 3 way fridge and I'm planning on installing it in my van. However, I have a rather unusual snag. My plan is to put it down the side of the rock 'n' roll bed where there is a cupboard at the moment, with the vent therefore coming out somewhere along the panel below the rear side window. BUT: I have a twin slider, and therefore when the door is open, it may block the vent. So, I have 3 questions, please pipe up if you can help me with an answer:

    1. Am I going to cause problems with having the vent on a bit of the body that is sometimes covered by the door?

    2. Is it possible to extend the length of the flue to move the vent further back so it isn't covered by the door?

    3. Is there anywhere else I can put the vent - does it have to be on a vertical surface, or could I, for example, vent through the floor? What a re the rules about positioning the vent - does it have to be higher than the fridge, can it be lower than the fridge?

  2. mine vents on the slider side with no problems. I'm afraid that is all I can input

  3.
  4. My Fridge vents out behind sliding door not had any probs. Ill see if i can find pic of type vent i have.

  5. Here you go .Works fine 8)

  6. Thanks to you both and K+. I feel much better about fitting it where I had already planned on putting it, so cheers.

  7. You won't have any problems with a vent there as theres still space between the sliding door and side panel.

Mine vents through the B pillar which only causes a problem when my awning is up as it vents into that. :(
