Fridge recommendations

  1. I am looking to refit the interior in the bus and looking to get a nicer fridge.

Does anyone have a recommendation of a fridge to use in my t2?

  2. Depends what you want, how long you need it cold for and what you're powering it with...

If you only have 12v then a compressor fridge like Waeco ones are best as they use less amps and so preserve battery life.

If you have gas then an electrolux 3 way fridge, (12v, 240v and gas), is the popular choice as you can put it on 12v while you are driving, 240v on hook up and gas the rest of the time. (I may have one I don't need if you want one).

Other than that, a big cool box and lots of freezer packs / frozen food for short trips away should do the job.

  4. I use a halfords large electric cool box/ fridge. Runs off 12v and keeps everything cool enough. best of all, it stands upright so looks and opens like a fridge, but can be removed and a lot cheaper than a Waeco (although I'd buy a Waeco if I had the money)

  5. Might seem like a daft question but how can I tell if my current fridge (which is an Electrolux) is just gas, two way or three way?

does it have a number on it

  7. Not sure, I don't have access to it at the mo, I can find out tomorrow. That will tell me I take it?

  8. Yup, get a model number and we can find out. Alternatively if you can see the fridge, there will be a knob on the front of it which you trun depending on which power input you want it to use, if it has 3 options it's 3 way, only 2 options, it's 2 way ;)

  9. waeco compressor, lots of £££ but use little electricity and get very cold quickly.

  10. +1 for a waeco CR50
ice cubes, proper coldness not 'coolness' and no way am I going to burn gas all night!

  11. I went for the biggest fridge and cooker (with oven) i could sensibly fit it just gives you the flexibillity you need, both came form a caravan breakers - nice and cheap! we can easilly live at an event where we cant get the van out for a week no probs. O0
