Fridge Advice

  1. Anyone got a 3 way fridge that either fits under the seat or a coolbox style? Top lifting.

If so, what you got and would you recommend?

Also, how much venting do they need? Dont want to cut a hole in the side of the van.

    Cheers

  2. to run on gas you need a hole cut in the side of the van

  4. You could just buy a 3 way fridge, you don't have to connect the gas part.

However, unless you are planing to be on hook up all the time when you are away a 12v fridge of the type you are thinking of will drain a leisure battery in less than a night. Look for a compression fridge, they last ages and ages on 12v electrics.

I'm sure Matty did a good review of them on here somewhere but it may have been before the crash, do a little search and see what comes up.

You'll want to buy a 12v compressor fridge (Waeco are probably the best). The have a cool box style one too.

  7. Cool, thanks all!

  8. for that £180 you get a insulated box with a 12v fan, right?

does it cool anything or just somewhat maintain the temperature? did you try it in 95°F+ heat?

  9. Quote from Waeco catalogue.

Refrigerate down to 30 deg below ambient tempreature and heat up to +65 deg c.
you can set the tempeature individually to seven different levels from +1 to +15 and in heating mode +50 to + 65c.
Memory function to save most recent setting.

Thats for the 35 ltr box, for the same size fridge your looking at £400.00

Waeco's are renowned for low amperage consuption so good if your only runnung the one lesuire battery,

  10. Or if you go past the pictures and price at the bottom of the link theres the same.

The WAECO TropiCool TC-35FL, a Thermoelectric cooler with TC special electronics. High-tech thermoelectrics, enabling an outstanding cooling capacity up to 30°C below the ambient temperature, now team up with new features and functions: 12/24/240V available as standard, temperature regulation with LED read-out, memory function, to name but a few. At the touch of a button, the coolers (1°C to 15°C) can be turned into warmer boxes (50°C to 65°C). The TC-35 offers a generous capacity of 35 litres. Ready for connection to 12/24 volts DC and 240 volts AC, it can be used simply everywhere. CF special electronics give you the extra comforts of individual temperature regulation, LED temperature readout and memory function.

  11. Yes, they say it does all that, but i'm more interested in your experience, does it actually do what it says on the box. If i put a warm beer bottle that's been in the sun and put it in that fridge for 1 hour. will it be cool enough to drink?

Why would you leave a beer in the sun? Sacrilege I tell ye!

  13. to test out the fridge of course ;D

I promise to only use stella or some other crappy foreign lager to do the testing.

  14. we have a WAECO compressor fridge, 12v only (no vent needed) and doesn't use much battery power, we can even store icecream

  15. We haven't tested tested them in different scenario's, Unfortunetely customers get ratty when we have them for too long.

But they do cool down quite quick, so it isn't just a fan in an insulated box.

    Scott.

  16. MB, what code / size is that Waeco, it looks a good size to store stuff in without being too big.

  17. looks like the CR50, or similar

  18. Thanks, thats what I thought but there isn't anything obviousl in the photo to relate it to size wise.

  19. i can't remember the model and the camper isn't near me now to look

but it was the same sized as the cheap motorized cool box it replaced
