Be aware that if a Mitutoyo packs up, it may not actually be broken. If they give an inaccurate measurement, they are actually designed to commit suicide...
We throw away /scrap Millions of pounds worth of equipment yearly @ work . Plus we only buy decent stuff ,all our workshop equipment is Mitutoyo from digital bore mics to CMM .....these were in production on some test rig that probably went in the bin .....I will look out for a non plunger type but more than likely not ....so they are free because I didn't want to see them go in the skip ......
I'd be asking for a massive pay rise if my company could afford to throw away millions every year. Aren't you feeling the pinch since brexit?

Has little if any affect as its a rather large American owned company ....my shares are rocketing tho as the pound falls against the dollar ....we launched a new product 2 years ago and and we are massively trying to ramp up production ,so all space is needed plus I work in R&D where the majority of stuff goes in the bin ... Took a long time to get used to it ....
