France 14 day quarantine from Sat

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by nobayinhell, Aug 13, 2020.

  1. We're in France now. No different to UK other than their better at mask etiquette.

Luckily we moved our return date yesterday just in case; at the cost of £2, so the kids and us have time to do the 14 day isolation. Just been on euro tunnel site, and the same move is now £400 on top of the original booking

Mrs is fretting now cos ive got a good enough excuse for two weeks playing with the Landy in the garage

    We’re stuffed.

Anyone got any land (or other ideas) in Cornwall for 6 adults & 7 kids.

    2 x campervans 1x tent

Happy to pay in pounds or beer

  3. No offence Ray but good luck with that one - going on my previous efforts at booking anything before September you've got no chance .
I was tempted with a couple of weeks in forrin parts - just the two of us but bottled it . Booking 2 vans and a tent in the current situation was bonkers.
There's two sets of friends in Cornwall with land we could stay on but I wouldn't want to impose as half of England is down there causing chaos apparently.
Take a year off holiday-wise , it's too late to get anything sorted in August....

  5. No pool for the kids and it would be too cold - different criteria...

So far... but then again so is Cornwall. Your trip is amazing, however we are with friends that I very much doubt will want to move around daily, especially as one is in a tent.

  7. Not too cold and there's the sea

I think we’re going to start south and work our way up the west coast....

Been about 20+ years ago, it was lovely, but M4 kills me.

What’s it like camping wise and what’s Welsh Covid rules?

  17. Sorry to hear it.
We have been all down the coast from North Wales/Anglesey to Swansea and the only time I saw campervan overload was in Pembrokeshire. We visited St David’s it was heaving, and down the coast at Newgale beach was the same.
No camp sites seem to be offering any facilities such as toilets or showers but they are still charging the same (about £20 a night) to park up. We told them we were self contained so they were ok. (Haha we have a bucket in the bus.. and our ‘shower’ was a wash in the sink or a ‘baby wipeathon’).

Welsh rules are less strict now, hardly anyone wears masks in shops (we still did - being responsible English visitor scum).

We did a mixture of campsite, friends driveways, and wild camping (park4night) and had a good ten days out overall but we cut it short a couple days and came back today because I couldn’t stand not having a proper shower any longer.

Edit: gotta give a shout out to Alberta - our ‘71 Dormobile. She didn’t miss a beat in over 700 miles.

Have you tried Northumberland @Razzyh that always seems quiet.

  19. I suggested Northumberland to a friend thinking along those lines but it doesn't have many sites apparently, and the ones that are open are insisting on own facilities. They just bit the bullet and picked up a bargain-ous 2 weeks on a Greek island for the family. I wouldn't have flown , they seemed a bit reluctant but all went well ...
