  1. Thank you very kind. It will be finished one day honest!

  2. Looks amazing Stan ,cant wait for the finished pictures ,love the colour combinations and the white steering wheel ,nice touch

  3. Sorry stan I meant to say you've done some great work as well bud, just got lost in my reply!

I suppose I could use mitred wood with a a slight lip to cover the edges, I could then cut the doors slightly smaller so as not to have the strip over hanging.

The t piece that you know in wont go around a 90 degree corner though will it? I suppose I could slightly round the edge but think it would still be to tight?

That's sort of what I did with my drawers. Other places I routed some 1mm thick oak strips off a plank and glued them on.

Iggle christened it the Winchester Club. That'll mean something to you if you're old enough.

I did want a bus you could sit about in.

  8. Well it does look nice. Where do you put your Havanna Cigars? Is it one of those drawer units?

  9. Is that Arthur Daleys hat in the back?

  10. Hi Stan
How have you mounted the seatbelt on the cupboard side?
I'm looking to do something like that myself
    Thanks

  13. Hi Al

It was simple barndoor engineering really! I got some thick square steel bar from B&Q cut it to the height I wanted the seat belt. The final plan is to just see the top of the belt (cupboard still unfinished at present) I cut another long piece (I can get you dimensions if you like?) I then welded to the upright piece forming an L shape.Next another welded plate on the top where the seat belt bolts to. Ground off sharp edges, drilled 2 holes to take 17mm bolts at the base which go through into the floor above the engine but located on the strengthener rib. Simply bolted in and thats it. The idea was to have the cupboard hiding it all. The other end of the seatbelt is bolted to the wheel arch mounting plate, however its just in there with an extender strip on the top for now until I put the next cupboard in. Later it will also have another bar bolted to the same place but going through a hole in the side of the cupboard you wont see, with the seatbelt strip again bolted to that, the idea being you only see the seatbelt and not the fittings. Sorry not explaining very well but cupboard is progressing so will post up pictures when done. Photos explain better.

For completeness the other side is easier. Its a volkswares 3/4 bed I have and annoyingly the standard Seatbelt nut in the body is just too low and too close to it , so when I pull the bed out it catches ! So again a nice flat steel bar of suitable strength merely bolted to that mounting point and another longer bar that bolts to the Original Spare Wheel mounting bracket (I just drilled it and fitted a suitable beefy nut and bolt. I think I might raise the belt a little higher though as other half complains its still tight on her shoulder, but for the sake of asthetics I put a sticker in the window so you dont really see the belt reel from outside! (sad I know). Just wrapped foam around the steel bar and sewed up a quick matching vinyl cover with velcro to hold it on. Stop my little one catching herself on it! Other end of seatbelt uses the standard floor mounting points with yet another extender strap.

    Hope this helps?

Row - go for it mate you have nothing to lose, it really is simple just time consuming but worth the effort in the end as you have the bespoke interior that you want rather than an off the shelf compromise?

That's given me a few ideas

  16. No worries - its tough enough to take a child seat etc I probably overengineered it a bit but then again better to be safe. Good luck with yours let me know if you need any dimensions or anything. Seatbelts are Securon ones from Jk or Machine 7 although look around sometimes people sell them cheaper as they got the wrong ones.

  17. Nicely done fella. Your work is amazing.
