Went to see The Selector in Oxford at the weekend and got very hot and bothered! This is me with the lovely Pauline Black afterwards. She is in considerably better shape than me, all that and 59 in a couple of weeks! She also looks a lot ska trendier than my gimpy t-shirt.....I knew I should have worn black and white! I was pleased that some of the similar age to me skinhead rude boys were as knackered at the end too!
I went to see Martha and the Muffins, the Selector were supposed to be the support but they were replaced by some other mob who the passage of time has caused me to forget completely.
ive been to see the beat a couple of times recently.....awesome , 8) there on here in northampton again this december, like pauline black, roger rankin is is great shape for 50 ... O0
brill ! dont know if you"d include , ?> saw toots and the maytells < soz, spelling ! now , that was a high energy gig down in the mosh pit! great support too ! i came up thru the 70"s punk scene wot opened up the music scene for a lot of groups/genre"s , inc. reggie and the like , i swear i want junior murvins "police and thieves" played all day every day by every person everywhere !
She does still look great doesn't she? I saw The Beat last week and my missus was amazed by RR and his energy. He still looks fairly ripped for an older chap...
we should have seen the beat at swamperjam and i still feel cheated.... seen madness loads of times, they always do a good show too.
i saw neville staple of the specials ... :-[ he was well outta shape kept stopppin to talk about how knacked he was ..couldnt sing....spoilt my nite out.. :'(
Great pic Merlin Cat, although Pauline black looks scarily like our area manager who is not on my nice people list at mo (and probably forever.....), but thats not Pauline Blacks fault. We went to see the Selector on the two tone tour with Madness and the Specials at the Top Rank in Brum, what a night, dancing like eejits non stop, losing half our body weight in sweat, moving out the way when the occasional fight broke out between the skins and rude boys. Ska is just brilliant dancing music 8) Ps, Horace Panter (bassist with The Specials) Ska'd for Life is a good read if you like the band or that period in music
