I don't suppose anyone has some T1 fan housing control flaps knocking around, do they? A mate is rebuilding one of my engines for me and the flaps have all been done away with in the past.
Show me a picture of where they are and I'll have a look ... I have a spare housing but whether it has those flaps I wouldn't know
Numbers 1 and 7 in the picture... if you've got the linkage to go with it that would probably be a bonus, too. I've got a couple of spare housings, but they're all barren and bare as well.
What are you going to do for a thermostat, do you already have one and the brackets and linkage? BTW - I can't see any of these parts on my engine, and I don't even know if I've got the flaps either, until I take the engine out and do some investigation. It's one of the reasons I've just fitted an oil temp gauge. I have no idea why PO's think removing all this stuff is a good idea...
At least with the flaps you can keep them open and guide the air in a semi useful direction... admittedly thermostat, brackets,and linkage would be a bonus, too. I only lent him an old spare engine so he could get his 356 project through an SVA... looks like it'll be coming back as a fully rebuilt 1641 with powder coated tinware. My wallet is crying and begging me for mercy. But, yes, people ripping bits off purely because its the easy option at the time is never a good thing.
