  1. numpty alert....

i'm hoping to fit my firectec this weekend at techenders as it's been rattling around my dining room for at least 6 months!I have the extinguisher and cable thing but vaguely remember a small bag with bits in and instructions which i put in a safe place....

guess what? yup, that place is so safe even i can't find it!

any ideas what was in it and/or what i'll need to fit it to my bus??? :( will keep looking but not expecting to find it anytime soon

bracket to mount? cable ties or suchlike to fasten hose to roof of engine bay. depends if you bought "extras" such as the alert led to say it's gone off.

  3. there is a bracket to mount.

  4. Have a look on the firetec site and you should be able to download instructions. We did mine at the last TE and t'was dead easy. So long as you have the bracket mount and lots of cable ties you'll be reet. Unless you bought a switch for the cab or anoy of the other extras?

  5. I am going to fit one of these to the Jurgens now the engines ready to go back in.What size and type did everyone buy ? Powder/foam etc.

    Thanks.

i got foam just over 1kg as they were offering a slightly larger size at the time, i prefered foam as you have to wash powder off rapid due to it's corrosive qualities - plus it makes a right mess..... each to their own, some say foam isn't as good, just remember not to mix extinguishants - don't lay foam then fire a portable powder one over it, they don't compliment each other.

I've got Marmite loads of cable ties in my bus if you need them.

  8. I've got a foam one waiting to be fitted to my bus (never got round to doing it before it went for the scooby). However, the hand-held extinguishers in the bus are powder. Anyone know where I could get a couple of hand held foam ones from for inside the bus? I don't want to mix foam and powder, because it might cause a rift in the space-time continuum, and that would be "bad".

  9. I have a foam one. In the workshop of the guy who fitted it there was a van with its engine out after a fire. The powder extinguisher he had used had made a proper mess of it. Still, it had put the fire out and saved a worse fate. Not a firetec mind (handheld).

  10. Cheers.;)
