I am having such trouble with this. Feeling pleased with myself for dismantling and polishing the windows. Got myself a new seals kit and started reassembling. I cannot get the seal around the glass to fit inside the profile of the aluminium frame! I was cursing the previous restorer for using glazing putty to fix the windows. Now I see why..... Anyone have any tips/tricks advice? anything I am doing wrong or is it just a pig? Can I open the channel a bit. Worried I might bend the aluminium.
I did mine, I remember it being a tad frustrating. Take a break, tackle it again. Don't get angry with it, it doesn't help. Good luck.
I'm doing mine as we speak, mine also had putty so I think it maybe original, I used the wolfsberg west kit, What i have done is discarded the glass seal as after 2 days trying it will not fit, some people cut it in half, I used clear silicone in the channel and assembled the louvre leave it to dry overnight and trim with a new blade( it squeezes out) my dads a glazier and said thats how they do house louvres now as it safer than breaking the glass I've just posted a pic in the what have you done thread, you could use grey sealant but I used clear Looks better than original in my opinion
Thanks - it does seem pretty tight. Been trying to clamp them in with blocks but I think silicone is the way forward.... Been pushing more than my luck...
Here is a link to part 1 of many videos on resealing the louvre windows. Be patient though, there is a few of them!
I did a single pane once. It took half a day and wasn't great. 6 panes = 3 days? I gave up. And I had a lot of prior experience with ali windows and glass gaskets, years of it i.e. I did know what I was doing! These were far more difficult than anything I'd done before. They didn't look different, same exact concept every window uses.
