Fitting late bay t2 side panel

  1. Just wanting to pick the brains of those who have done this before....

I am doing a restoration of a 1975 RHD T2 Late Bay, I have fitted the drivers side rear wheel tub and wheel arch. I have completed the prep for fitting the side panel, the area I am troubled with is below the floor of the side panel. The panel I am fitting was made by the lads Schofields, it’s not their standard pressed sewage line, this one is made up of two pressed panels spot welded together. The two panels are spot welded together then fitted as one panel.

How is the below floor area welded to the rear wheel arch panel and the bottom of the b pillar, is the seam welded and ground to create a groove?

Exactly that. I'm just about to do our rear arch and will be welding it in the seam and grinding back.
For the front where it meets the B pillar you may be able to weld it to the b pillar from inside the pillar if you're having to repair it.

  4. That was just the way I was thinking of doing it, I have the inner front open so was going to drill holes. The rear joint I did not want to get wrong.

Cracking images, thank you so much for the direction, it will be interesting to see if anyone does it another way?
