Fitting a Rusty Lee Bed - help needed please!

  1. Just like to add, it's nothing to do with lee's beds, there all bloody like it. I've resorted to re clipping them in when no one is using them.

I had seat belt extenders on my westy, it was a nightmare every time. Now I have no belts - bliss.

  3. Re, space behind sloping bulkhead for drilling through, there is enough space to do it if you're sensible. Probably an inch or two. Drill until you feel it start to give, then be gentle so when the drill pops through you only let it go through a tiny bit if you see what I mean.

I used heavy duty angle brackets for the support, drilled through then riveted them in place. Not pretty but I had them sitting in the shed.....

  4. I need some extenders for mine, my 7 year old barely fits in properly, not sure who they measured before making these seat belts.

  5. Ok, I fitted a rusty lee full width bed a couple of months ago.
Utilise the seat belt fixing points on the wheel arch, you will need to position the bed in place and mark the points with a Bradle or screw driver from under the wheel arch and drill new holes on the bed , hope this makes sense!!!!!!!
Regarding the height 12mm worked for !
    Good luck !

Don't do it! The joiny buckle bit will jam in the RR mech every time you make bed or back to seat, providing a level of frustration that merely fishing out the middle bits can only aspire to. Get longer belts, you'll thank me. :)

  7. Yep! Had that problem , fixing plate needs to be at the right angle and you need to be aware to pull up the belts . So far so good!

  8. To be fair after spending approx 16 days out of a month sleeping, farting etc in the van with various hols and shows lately. My level of frustration (sorry learning about the personality of our van) is nearing a level I truly did t understand with the last one. Top tip thou. :)

  9. Ok another thought has occurred to me.
I had thin ply over the rear cargo area. Was thinking I would renew with 9mm to match the boards on the Rusty Lee.
However, as there will be a fitted foam cushion over the load bay is there any point.
What have others with R&R bed done.

  10. No point at all
