Firetec Install Pictures Please

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Chris G, Feb 15, 2012.

  1. Does anyone have any pictures of their firetec install, i need to decide wether we need vertical or horizitontal mounting for the cylinder. Bus has twin webers so i'm undecided which is the best easiest position to fit the cylinder.

You plum ;) Why didn't you ask at Winter camp? Mike, Dan, Jen and Rich and l all have them fitted. If we had had the Engine Bay shine-off (ignore Mikes fixed win gloat. He won nothing) you would have seen.

  3. I did'nt realise deana got chatting to jen about buying one at wintercamp mate. Your engine bay is so shiny i could'nt look in properly without being blinded, so never noticed you had one. Plum lol.

  4. Similar install. My bottle is mounted on its side, just inside on the left and with the gauge in view.
This is the only pic I have available, as I am at work at the moment.

Birdy, your engine bay is amazing - how did you get the fan casing looking so good?

Cheers. A wire brush and many many hours. It was about 80 odd in total. Looked a right mess before.

Seemed to fit nicely under the spare wheel thingy.
horizontal firetecs are the same as vertical, horizontal ones are marked with a dot where the internal pick up tube is so it can be placed lowest. It's mounted opposite the gauge.

Worth reading the instructions. It reckons you need eye protection during install and the nearest anyone without safety specs on can be is 20 metres! Glad I got the spiral chafe guard after reading that.

  16. Ta but the facing down mark is indeed facing down on mine. Not sure which orientation I ended up with as there were two to choose from. I described how I wanted to fit it and it worked like this. It's attached to the spare wheel well.

  17. Excellent!
I had an email exchange with Tim Malyon at firetec about this stuff. Glad yours is the right way round that would have been a real pita to sort!

Mounted to the floor of the load area and a cable tie to make sure it does not fall out
