This is a long shot, but here goes. I was chatting with my pal Peter whilst we went to the NEC classic car show on Saturday and he was reminiscing about his black 1969 MG Midget YPE549G which he had in the 70s and 80s. His dad took this picture of Peter and his wife in the MG in Kingston-upon-Thames in 1975. One thing led to another and by the end of the show Peter had decided to track the car down, restore it and recreate the photograph.
What we've found so far is fairly promising: the next owner kept the car until the early 1990s and sold it on in the Farnborough/Farnham area. The DVLA does have a record of the car with a V5C being issued on 17 February 2011, but it is not currently taxed.
So, just maybe, one of those Hampshire TLBers knows where there is a black MG Midget tucked up in a garage somewhere.....

  2. Doesn't show on the MOT history site. I reckon he will be very fortunate to find it, best of luck.

Thanks. Yes, I agree he'll be very lucky to find it. However, if he does, even if it's a complete basket case, it can be rebuilt into a new shell. Just need the V5C and the VIN tags!
