There was an article on this in this months Practical Classics - that the info hold on DVLA is inaccurate.

Their example was Allegros - the database showed hatch back and convertible versions, as well as something like 16 registered before the model was released and others with the wrong engine size.

Mrs Moons car was registered as a 5 door hatch when it is the convertible one - they never challenged it when we sent to the V5 back, and they changed it.

Couple all that with some cars exist, but arent showing as they were registered prior to SORN and weren't brought across.

So - the data is flawed at source, leave alone that held by 3rd parties.

  14. Allegros are just wrong on all counts...

  16. They tell me there's only 230 of my cars left out of 250 built 7 yrs ago. It getting rarer bet it's value not one up though.

  19. As well as Bays, I love Jag XJSs (I've a 1989 3.6 manual with only 19k miles on the clock). There were lots of different models made of course. But the link says there's only 1386 left. I'd expected a much higher figure. These cars are set to rise in value considerably over the next 10 years, just like Bays have over the last 10.
