Festivals that dont change extra for a Van???

  1. Fancied a little music this Summer but at the risk of being really grumpy...
Anyone know of any festivals that don't cost an arm and a leg AND charge more than a small fee for a camper van?

    Cornbury £85
    End of The Road £55
    Hop Farm £70
    Larmer Tree £45
    Longe on the Farm £55
    Latitude £40

  3. £25 at Bearded Theory - oh and I love how they are all calling them "Live In Vehicles" these days

  4. Glastonbury..... £85:mad:

  5. end of the road is fantastic. We are off to Green Man this summer and I think it's £60 for the camper but you save the £10 or so parking fee (and don't have to sleep in a tent!)

  6. Nearly all of them do now .... swines ....

Glastonbury is a total rip off and I actually wrote and complained about the price of the tickets.

Considering you may to get into the festival and could camp there anyway the £85 is a RIP OFF.

They wrote back and said that it was because they had to hire extra fields from local farmers to be able to allow vans on site.

But - if they just put each ticket up by £2 it would cover all the extra van tickets they sell .... i did do all the maths and calculate it and write back to them with this view - they never replied.

If you like 70's and 80's stuff try the Upton Festival, £67 each for 3 days and no extra for the van. Might even get to see The Beat this time unlike Camperjam but really going for The Wurzles and Chesney Hawkes ;-)

Yes, it's so unfair. I wrote to them and suggested if they put a fiver on all the tickets they could let me build a small private club in the grounds but I'm still waiting for an answer. The fivers would easily cover it, what's the problem?

  9. ^^^ Can we get an unlike button please HorTs ^^^

zed - my point was more the fact that they discriminate and charge van owners extra - not that it was me alone who found it unfair.

...and my point was they want to charge me extra just because I require a small private club in the grounds.
Why do you expect tenters to subsidise your camper lifestyle to the tune of £2 a ticket? I wouldn't be happy to do that if I were tenting!

  11. What do they charge all the crustys that take in their horse boxes or massive old lorries with massive sound systems and 20 people sleeping in?

If they let tem in at all it's because they're blocking the roads. Eavis was held to ransom in the early 80's like this.

  13. leeds festival is £60 despite the fact that my van takes up less room than the 6 man tent, has less of a foot print and the campervan site doesnt even have its own toilets or water - you share with brown camping with nothing special in the way of security. last year they couldnt get all the campers in the designated area and the late arrivals had to camp by the camping entrance with no refund.

  14. £100 at the Isle of Wight, though in 2011 it was inexplicably £250. We do get our own field, own security and showers though.

  15. As Zed said there was a lot of trouble with the travellers at Glastonbury in the 80s (and their red leb was generally terrible) - I think the big lorries and buses you get there now are traders and performers in the green field / circus field etc.

  16. id gladly sell my house and all my belongings to be able to go to Glastonbury and camp in my van. Oh yes - id need to wouldnt I!

  17. All you need to do IS sell your house, move to the area and you can get locals tickets! That's how I got mine for me and my camper :p

  18. Well I never! long way to go to work though!

  19. My office is in Ruddington....fortunately I don't have to go there very often!

  20. ahhhh the memories of glastonbury in the late 80's , some of the crusty's vans were fantastic though, depsite all the other stuff, I was only 16 but it was like a magical wonderland , evne if I was with my mum . There's a few lower priced ones round Norfolk , Suffolk way , then again just looked a Lattitude at £190 then £40 for the van !
