Fed up :-(

  1. Been a tough bus week.

Sitting here totting up all the £££££ spent since July on the mechanical side and thoroughly depressed about the [glow=red,2,300]FACT[/glow] that it's about to be a significantly hefty amount more for the gears and related work....and I'll STILL have a tatty looking bus at the end of it.

Nothing shuts properly, nothing's straight, there's not a single panel without some kind of chip or scratch....

....oh am having a bad day and feeling sorry for myself (and my wallet) :'(

Sorry this thread isn't really achieving much but I'm usually quite positive and today's news has really got me down :(

but do you love your bus?

We are all going to go through these things at some time, you've just got all yours in a short space of time!

But you are getting it all sorted so you have a sound base to add the finishing touches to.

I spent a fortune on my bus and my doors are iffy ;)

Finding a good mechanic you can trust is half the battle and not fun in the process. Once you have that sorted its plain sailing and you will love them forever.

It's amazing how many unusual bodges you can find on one type of vehicle so fear not. We've all had them and found them.

  14. For the first few years of owning Maggie, we absolutely hated her.... Honestly.

She was such a pain in the arse, always breaking down, things falling off etc etc...

The previous owner had bodged and bodged her so much that she must have expected us to do the same.

It got so bad that we banished her to a lock up for three years, trying to teach her a lesson, whilst secretly saving money to restore her... ???

Then when the time was right we blew the lot, and more to bring her up to scratch... so approx 8 grand down she is great fun and we would do the same again.. without hessitation...

It was a long wait, but well worth it :)

So, take your time, it will happen.. (exception to dog ;D)

  19. Cheer up chuck, We bought Luu for a stupidly high price (considering her condition which I thought was pretty good ::) ) We then spent a fortune on a resto by a guy who is a **&%&^% (please insert appropriate) there are still lots of things I'm not happy with. Then finally we spent another fortune on an interior which currently looks lovely in the dining room. ;D

I really think it's a learning curve, if I ever did it again I would take my time and more importantly get a lot of advice from people who know what they are talking about.

At the end of the day Luu does look good, not perfect as I'd hoped but if she was I'd probably be too scared to use her ;D

You're deffo finding out the hard way on lesson 1 - don't buy off e-bay when you've not seen it before. You're also unfortunately the victim of tosspotripyouoffmechanicitis, i'm afraid the first bloke is gonna keep running you round in circles until you give up, but on a positive side you will get there in the end, as you say it seems stupid to get rid now, but you don't have to do it all at once, there are a few months until the spring, take your time and get it right for March and enjoy it all year next year, you'll soon forget all the bad times when you're in it and you know it is reliable.
