Fan shroud removal

  1. It’s been a while since I last removed the fan shroud and I’m looking to remove it again to tidy it up and give it a lick of paint,is there much involved in doing so?the engine is already out and it’s a type 1 1600TP
    Thanks

  2. Pretty straightforward I'd say. I once managed to undo and raise it with the engine in situ. That was a bit of a fiddle - but really easy on the bench.

Remember to remove the thermostat from underneath first..

Undo the alternator strap, remove coil and plug leads, remove doghouse tins, pull accelerator cable tube out, undo the two m6 screws in the sides of the fan housing. Disconnect the bar that connects the cooling flaps, lift housing off, taking car not to bend the thermostat rod.

  4. Thanks, mine doesn’t have a thermostat rigged up so that’s one less thing to remove, probably could do with finding one
