You can get them for a lot cheaper than Bay's I can tell you. 4.2 V8 built like a Russian Poo house and mostly double insulated rear cabins, since they were used a Radio Cars in the field. I would still have one if I could find storage for it. Average price is about £4-5K is you look around. Best bit you can run them on contaminated fuel (that scrappers have) and that is either free or only a few pence per litre. Offsets the horrific fuel consumption!
Aye its a Volvo C303 http://www.volvoc303.co.uk/ - they are very sought after and not cheap. The other big Russian thing is a Zil 131 - they are supposed to be even more reliable than the Gaz , however a little too big even for me! Can you tell I have been researching! If you go on this forum (they are a good bunch) you will find all you need! Of course my fave: UAZ 452
Dont know mate but they cost about £1800 - £3000 subject to condition. All versions available they are actually roughly Bay sized but bigger body on the back, perfect camper however again, thristy, noisey but standard 4x4 (you can disconnect front hubs though to gain an extra 3mpg!) The thing is you can buy Brand new RHD version although a little pricy for a 1960's design! The Ambulance and Police versions best as they have the most windows as standard.
